Kori's Fable Full Version Release

Image
We have released the full version of Kori's Fable Visual Novel. It took us 2 and a half years to develop this visual novel and we are happy to present it to you finally. We were planning to publish this VN way before but life got in the way. Oh well, did life get in the way or was it the circumstances? Anyway, please enjoy this visual novel. It is a playable software but in the end its a novel. And you will have to read a lot. If you are fond of reading and looking at pictures and listening to music at the same time then you will enjoy this work.  It is not an adventure game so please don't bother with it if you are looking for an adventure or arcade game. It is a novel so there is a lot of reading. We are clarifying this point because there have been some instances when people have downvoted and dismissed our work because it did not have arcade or platformer elements in it. You can get the game here: Google Play:  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cc.r

Independent storyteller just wants to tell a story? Write it.

There are some of us who want to tell great stories to the world. We have these amazing stories with vibrant visuals and interesting characters in our mind but we are unable to find a medium to portray them in. If you are one of these people then read on.

A girl working on her laptop

In today's world there can be a number of ways in which you can portray the story in your mind. However, the easiest way is written stories. Bringing the narrative from your mind to paper or laptop is easier than making a full featured film. Writing stories will bring you that peace of mind which you crave so badly. You will be able to portray your narrative in the easiest way possible.

The written content, however, suffers from lack of interest. With so many other options to consume one's time you may think why would one spend time in reading some text? Highly immersive visual and audio experiences are just a click away for most of us. The answer to this question is not so simple. What I think at the moment is that the written content is the most original and sincere form of content available. This is because the author themselves have penned down each and every word of the piece. People may not realize it, but when an original written content is reproduced in other mediums then it loses some of the details in the process. Most people don't realize it because they have not spent time in reading the original work before consuming the audio and visual reproduction of the same.

In conclusion, if you are an independent storyteller then your best bet is to invest your time in written content if you enjoy doing it. One question may always haunt you, 'who will read my work?'. This is the question that may stop you from ever starting to write. One thing I want to tell you, you should never pursue a hobby if it depends on other's judgement. You write because you love doing it. You don't care if anyone reads it or not. But yes, you will do every effort to get it in front of as many people as possible in hopes that they read it but you will also not dwell on their indifference. This is the mindset which you must have if you want to keep following your hobby and being happy.

In today's world there are many places where you can share your written content and also earn recognition and money doing it. The money will not be huge as it will mostly come from advertisements. This is a small list of things which you can do to bring your stories to the attention of the world.

A girl writing on a pad

1. Get a website
The easiest way for a writer to get their own website which they can regularly update with new content is wordpress.com. No other service comes even close. Although they have a free service, as a person who has used the Wordpress personal plan, I will recommend going with one of their paid options. Trust me, if you are a writer then this Wordpress website is a must to have. Also, don't confuse Wordpress with wordpress.com. Wordpress is an open source software which you can use to host a website/blog on your own server while on the other hand wordpress.com is a service which does this for you and gives you lots of other benefits.

2. Make accounts on popular story sharing websites
Some of these websites are Wattpad, Scribd, Goodreads, Tumblr etc. For story writing I would personally recommend Wattpad and Tumblr. Make accounts on these and share your stories regularly. Write your stories once on your computer or laptop and then share them on these sites as well as put them on your own website as well. Put links from these website back to your site too. Putting your stories on these websites also means that you are publishing them in a serialized manner. This also means that you are not publishing your stories in any traditional way. There is no publisher involved. There is no publishing of any kind happening here (not even self publishing in the traditional sense.). You are yourself serializing your work and putting it in front of readers.

3. Share updates to your stories on all social media platforms
Yes, you heard it right. Go to all social media platforms you can go to and post updates and links to your work. Go to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Linkedin, Whatsapp, Reddit, etc. and post links to your stories! Don't be afraid to do this. This is one of the most important steps which will highly increase your reach. Post about your stories everyday and there will be some people who will see those posts and visit your site. Slowly you will amass a following.

4. Focus on images and illustrations
Now, to be highly effective on the social media platforms you may also need some image assets along with your written content. If you have an artist then you can work with them or, you can take pictures from pixabay.com (free public domain images) and/or elements.envato.com (paid subscription but 100% worth it). You must have seen illustrations in books. In the same way you must try making some illustrations for your work too. These illustrations really go a long way in keeping your readers hooked to your material. Maybe you can take a small Photoshop course and get the Adobe Photography package which is really affordable these days. You can also click your own pictures and/or mix and match pictures on Photoshop to make that perfect illustration of your hero knight holding a sword against the demon king. However, another word of advice here, if you absolutely cannot make illustrations for your stories then you don't really have to. Remember, it is all about you feeling good doing this. It is all about you loving this activity. Creating illustrations for your work is not a compulsion. If you enjoy doing it then go ahead and do it. But, if you resent it, then don't do it. It will not help you if you resent it. I will try to find an appealing way in which you can turn your words into compelling images which can drive traffic to your website. So far, I have not been able to do this but as soon as I will, I will tell you all about it.

So, these are just a few steps which you can follow to increase the number of people who read your content and slowly get to know about you. But, again, you are doing this because you love doing this not because you want to earn money or recognition. When you will have this feeling then money and recognition will follow.

Thank you for reading and I hope that this article helped you in some way.
